I want to share with you some of the precious moments at el El Gato Con Botas this Winter and Spring of 2012. First I want to thank Sarah Bunch for her passion about children learning a second language at an early age, and for the way she set up the charming school. When I arrived through the gates, I immediately felt the magic. From the outdoor playspace and grounds, to the carefully planned classroom with it's many possibilities waiting to be discovered, I could sense it was going to be a classroom for growing and learning through play.
I also want to acknowledge Katrina Dorn, our teacher's assistant, and mother of our youngest student, whose knowledge of Spanish and easy-going, sunny attitude, added a special touch to "la escuela".
I want to especially thank the parents who put their faith in us to be their children's guides, and for the terrific parenting which is reflected in each and every one of those kids!

The children of El Gato are truly special! They are creative and loving. They are funny and inspired. They are comfortable being themselves! And they are ADORABLE! We sang, danced, practiced Yoga lead by Katrina, practiced "breathing" while learning our vowels, played games that were organized and ones we made up on the spot, had quiet time and read, created art, spray-painted the snow with food coloring, had sensory experiences, made mud pies and "stews", made sand castles, watched caterpillars turn to butterflies, caught frogs, held baby chicks, planted green beans from seed, learned sharing and cooperation, hygiene and listening! We ate together, laughed alot...we really lived in the moment and most of all, we did it in SPANISH!
